BSi Steel Zambia was originally known as the company Discount Steel Zambia that was founded in 1995.

Discount Steel Zambia was purchased in April 2007. This occurred at the same time there was an aggressive restructuring process which saw the conversion of all subsidiaries and associated companies into wholly owned subsidiaries.

The minority shareholders within the subsidiary companies were converted to shareholders within the holding company BSi Steel.

Through the restructure BSi Steel became the holding company of Discount Steel Zambia and as a result Zambia fell under the BSi Steel brand as a new brand called BSi Steel Zambia.
