Cold Rolled Steel

BSi Steel distributes Cold-Rolled sheet that is produced from descaled hot-rolled coils by means of cold reduction which is achieved through a cold rolling process that provides thinner gauges and enhanced surface texture. This is generally followed by annealing in a suitable gaseous atmosphere to prevent oxidation and is then temper rolled. Further processing may include stretch leveling, rolling and oiling, depending on the end use or BSi Steels customer requirements.

This is generally followed by annealing in a suitable gaseous atmosphere to prevent oxidation and is then temper rolled. Further processing may include stretch leveling, rolling and oiling, depending on the end use or BSi Steels customer requirements.
• BSi Steels Cold Rolled steel range includes steels with excellent press formability as well as more general purpose steels conforming to ATSM and JIS specifications.
• Cold Rolled commercial steels are intended for exposed or unexposed parts where bending, moderate drawing, forming and welding may be involved. These steels may normally be welded without special precautions using any standard arc or resistance welding process.
• Typical end uses of cold-rolled sheet include motor vehicle panels, kitchen utensils, domestic appliances, shelving, office furniture and radio and TV chassis. Drums and containers require the strength of cold-rolled steel sheet in order to withstand tough handling.
• Bend test:
  If the carbon content has a value up to and including 0, 15% the steel must pass a bend test where a specifically prepared specimen is bent flat on itself. There should be no readily visible cracks along any bend. Any cracks at the sheared edges of the sample are disregarded.
